LEGO® Education Science Fun day( P4-P6)

Building Bridges Between Subjects: Creating Immersive Cross-Curricular Learning Solutions!

Suitable for occasions such as STEM Day, Comprehensive Learning Day, Post-Test Activities, and Open Days.
LEGO® Education Science Fun Day aims to make abstract scientific concepts tangible through brick construction, integrating general knowledge, Chinese Culture. While seamlessly connecting interdisciplinary knowledge, it allows students to experience the complete scientific inquiry process around real-world problems.

Grade: P4 - P6
Duration: 3 hours
4 students in one group
Content Overview:

  • Understanding the evolution of architectural design from ancient times to the present, and Its relationship with People's lives and Culture
  • Understanding natural disasters and their impact on architecture
  • Recognizing the application of various seismic structures in modern architecture
  • Define problems, establish success criteria and constraints, and seek solutions.
  • Construct and test earthquake-resistant building structures and explore the principles behind them.
  • Understanding the bracket and mortise-tenon structures in traditional Chinese architecture and their earthquake-resistant principles

Theme of  "Building Through Time: A Journey of East and West Architectural Design" Event Flow

Integration of Knowledge in 'Chinese Culture' and 'Scientific' Inquiry

Focus extends from appreciating the ingenuity of world architecture to structural engineering and seismic science that withstand natural forces. The aim is to cultivate systematic engineering thinking and problem-solving skills in upper-grade students, while helping them understand the critical role of science and technology in preserving and protecting human civilization.

Conducting Scientific Inquiry Experiments with LEGO® Bricks

By building with LEGO bricks, scientific principles become tangible, observable, and verifiable, significantly lowering the barrier to understanding for students. Once they grasp the concepts, students have the opportunity to design and optimize experiments, reinforcing their application of knowledge

Hands-on activity - Build an earthquake experiment

The activity revolves around real-world problems and involves hands-on experiments. After understanding the scientific principles, students reflect their learning outcomes through crafting, thereby experiencing the complete engineering cycle of "Ideation - Creation - Testing - Optimization.
